By Nia Lawrence

The weather always changes. A sunny day can instantly turn into a stormy one when you are out on your boat. While there are many tools like a Raymarine chartplotter that can help you get weather updates, you are still subject to its fickle nature. Just like the time of day and the time of the season you are out fishing, the kind of weather you are having often determines the success or failure of your fishing trip. Different fishes have different preferences on weather. Some fish like to bite when the weather is fair, while others seem to like it when the sky is overcast. If you want to be able to get the kind of fish you are hoping to catch, you need to make certain that you are prepared for the different weather conditions within the day. Just like Raymarine chartplotters, it is very crucial that you have the right weather protection gear with you at all times. The following are some tips on gears that can be helpful to have on your boat.Cold weather can sometimes be as unpredictable as rain. Depending on where and when you plan to fish, it is very important that you have a fleece jacket that can keep you warm when the weather suddenly dips. Moreover, while you may have good forecasts from tools like the Raymarine ST1000, having a warm jacket and a pair of gloves can be very useful if you are fishing in higher altitude locations.

If you want more dexterity for handling the line of your rod, you can opt to choose fingerless gloves.Be prepared with a good pair of polarized sunglasses that can protect your eyes from the glare of the sun and the ultraviolet rays. Moreover, like the Raymarine S1000 with a fish finder, polarized sunglasses can be very useful to have for spotting different fish in the water. Make certain that you have an extra pair with you at all times. Whether or not they are the cheaper type, you need to make it a point to have one extra pair on board with you in case you damage or lose a pair.Make it a point to also put on some sun protection on your skin at all times. Even if it is overcast, the sun's UV rays can still penetrate the clouds and cause you sunburns. Make certain that you choose the waterproof type of sun block cream.

Also, make sure that you have a wide brimmed hat to protect your head and neck. Moreover, whether or not you have the Raymarine S1000 that can be useful in predicting weather changes, you need to be prepared with rain gear or a rain jacket. Just like being a boy scout, when it comes to weather, it is best at all times to be prepared.
