Opening Day of Michigan deer hunting season 2009

By Sherri Russell

Nov. 15th  is considered an "unofficial" holiday for many hunters. Many Mid-Michigan stores that cater to hunters are already seeing an increase in business

The Michigan DNR has all the details on deer hunting in Michigan, including a reminder that much public land is open to hunting - be aware! An estimated 750,000 hunters will purchase licenses for the Novemb firearm deer season.

An estimated quarter-million deer hunter will take to the woods in Michigan this fall for the annual white-tail deer rifle season.

Deer hunters will contribute more than $500 million to the Michigan economy through the purchase of such items as food, lodging, transportation, and equipment.

Good luck to all of you hunters...I will be on the river fishing!
