Ice Fishing For Pike

  "Tips in the Sticks"

Last weekend, a few friends and I stayed at the Gray Goose, a lakefront cottage rental in Newaygo Mi, in search for pike.  The Gray Goose is located on the back waters of Croton and Hardy dams, which is the Muskegon river.  The northern pike is one of the most exciting fish to catch in our area.

There were many anglers ice fishing this day.  I witnessed many anglers catch pike around me, but unfortunately, we did not have their same luck.  We had fun trying and were glad to be outdoors and enjoying the sport regardless.  The Gray Goose is a nice place to rent with friends because it is very spacious and have ice shanties and heaters available for rent - which is a plus!

This weekend, my friend's Rachel and Scott went out to the Muskegon river, in same spot and caught a very nice northern Pike that measured 38.5" and weighed 13 pounds.  They set up their tip ups only 15 feet from the shore and directly in front of the Gray Goose cottage rental.

Apparently, you win some and you loose some - I was excited for Rachel and Scott in regards to their great catch!!
