“Sheboygan Harbor Virgin Ice Anglers" Catch A Huge Brown Trout

The sun was out and the wind was at 20 to 25 mph in Sheboygan, WI, and the “Sheboygan Harbor Virgin Ice Anglers" (Steve, Bob and myself - Coot) set out to hit the hard water at 10:00 am.

We looked around and saw about a dozen anglers out there. We set up some tip ups and started to jig with Swedish pimples, with whole minnow and or a half a minnow on the treble hook. We witnessed a couple fish being caught, then all of a sudden, Steve yells out "I've got one"!

Then the battle started over at our ice hole.  Steve was very excited as Bob and I were too. Steve told us that he had only 4 lb test line on.  The fish was swimming around in circles and we were afraid that the line could be cut by the edge of the hole, so I told Steve to stick the pole down the hole and play the fish that way and he did.  About 10 minutes later I reached into the hole and pulled the nice big brown trout out of the hole and lots of “OMG” were coming out our mouths.

We left with a 30" long and 12 lb brown trout and a lot of memories during this ice fishing day for us “Sheboygan Harbor Virgin Ice Anglers".

Tight Lines,
