Ice Fishing Contestants out on Muskegon River - Croton-Hardy Dams Backwaters
It was a great weekend in Croton. The 4th Annual Dam-to-Dam Ice Fishing Contest, a fund raising event to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Newaygo County, officially kicked off Friday evening, February 12th, 2010.
This contest is an annual event to benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Newaygo County. Held on ‘Michigan's DNR Free Fishing Weekend’ (No Fishing License Required) in February of each year.
And what better way to kick off a dam-to-dam event than with a "Dam She's Hot" contest. Which my "friends" talked me into entering....geesh, I could be the contest entries mother...needless to say, I was a good sport about it and placed 4th out of 20 beautiful younger contestants...lol. Take a look at my embarrassing video of the contest below.
First and second place awards were given in the adult and childrens divisions for several fish categories. After the awards, the raffle began. Local businesses and individuals donated many gift certificates and prizes.
Thank yous go out to WLAV FM and Leinenkugal's for sponsoring the event, along with the American Legion Post 381, Wisner Rents Canoes, Croton Bay Trading Post, Lattitude Steelheads, Drop Zone TV, Big Fish Taxerdermy, Freeze Frame Publishing, She's So Fly, Mountain Men Taxerdermy, John Bumstead, Anderson's Silk Screening, Michigan Angler's Association, Driftwood Bar and Grill, Genes' Market, Hilltop Grocery, Big Brothers and Big Sisters and Pangburn Properties.
