Ice Fishing Contestants out on Muskegon River - Croton-Hardy Dams Backwaters
It was a great weekend in Croton. The 4th Annual Dam-to-Dam Ice Fishing Contest, a fund raising event to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Newaygo County, officially kicked off Friday evening, February 12th, 2010.
This contest is an annual event to benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Newaygo County. Held on ‘Michigan's DNR Free Fishing Weekend’ (No Fishing License Required) in February of each year.
And what better way to kick off a dam-to-dam event than with a "Dam She's Hot" contest. Which my "friends" talked me into entering....geesh, I could be the contest entries mother...needless to say, I was a good sport about it and placed 4th out of 20 beautiful younger contestants...lol. First and second place awards were given in the adult and childrens divisions for several fish categories. After the awards, the raffle began. Local businesses and individuals donated many gift certificates and prizes.

There were over a thousand ice fishing contestants for this years event.

There were many people dressed in costumes for the event
This contest participant caught a nice northern pike.
There were many female contest entries this year too!
Me and my good friend and river guide, Gary Bol. Gary will be one of the anglers who will be testing my breast cancer custom lures this year.
This contest entry also caught a very nice northern pike.
Some one always has to kiss the fish....lol.
