A Lake Michigan sport fishing charter can be a great time for any angler to he had. I had the pleasure with a few girl friends to go on such a trip this past Sunday during Michigan’s free fishing weekend with Evolution Charters.
Evolution Charter boat services specializes in Lake Michigan offshore sport fishing charters for large and small groups.
Once we arrived to the boat, we loaded up all of our food, drinks, extra clothing etc on board and headed out towards the big water out of the Grand River near the town of Grand Haven, Michigan on the Evolution with Captain Roger Haynor and 1st Mate Mike Marsh in search for Coho Salmon and Lake Trout mainly. Our 1st Mate Mike was very patient and took the time to explain how to use the fishing gear and what to expect when a fish bites and how to reel them in. We definitely learned a lot about fishing this day while having fun and being silly at the same time.
The evolution is a 36 foot Hatteras Convertible. Hatteras yachts are one of the best quality, most dependable, and most seaworthy boats on Lake Michigan. This 36 foot convertible is fully equipped with the latest in technology and electronics available including two fish / depth finders, two marine FM radios, GPS, radar, 4 downriggers and 20 fishing rods. She has three station helms including fly bridge, salon, and cockpit. She is powered with twin 454 ci / 330 hp motors.
Michigan is such a beautiful place to visit in the summer and the great lakes are in fact America’s fresh water seas. Taking a great lakes fishing charter can be a lot of fun for any occasion – here are some occasions I thought might be good; pre-wedding parties, father’s day, mothers day, birthday’s, sister reunions, etc.
If you think about it...a Lake Michigan Charter is really not that much money once you split the price among each person going. An average trip runs $350 for half day and $600 for a full day.

I would like to thank Captin Roger and 1st Mate Mike for being such gracious hosts and making our experience a great one. Here are some more photos of our trip below:
