A Comfortable Seat Box for an Fascinating Angling Trip

By James Michel

Offshore fishing can be a thrilling and entertaining encounter as long as you are armed with best reef fishing resources and gadgets. While seasoned fishermen are well alert to the unique machines, newbies may feel uncertain while choosing the best instruments.

Whilst going for fishing on a boat, you have to carry correct baits, seat box and so on. There are many possibilities available in various selling prices for these things from which you can choose based on your prerequisites i.e., if you're searching for a seatbox for part time reef fishing venture or for thorough professional goal.

Of all the other devices, a seat box holds quite much of importance. Typically built of light weight aluminum, seat boxes are quite light weight and simple to transport. You can decide any of these hues like blue, black and green for your seat box. Mostly they boast of strong and robust structure. You get a high density deep filled seat plus an easy grip handle to keep the balance. The long sturdy clip assists in managing the box whilst transporting it over your shoulder. Apart from these, there are lots of more extra features and options to choose from in case you are willing to fork out more.

The seat which is often used for sitting purpose has a powerful pole retainer which keeps it firm. Hence, you really feel secure whilst using it. The drawer is big and deep enough to support all your angling gears. It has legs that may be effortlessly altered based on your height. Many boxes are provided with trolley technique to enable them to be taken without difficulty.

This tool is considered as a main part of the day fishing station. A lot of companies offer flexibility while setting up the fishing platform efficiently. Thus you can place the lure on a tray to your side, maintain the net within your reach and put the quiver trip rod on an arm of the seatbox on the side. You can without difficulty place the box over the day fishing podium making the fishing adventure quite easy.

You can experiment with a range of combo and gadgets related to angling platform and the box. In fact there are a variety of parts which can be connected to both the podium and the seating unit. You can pick from boxes having adjustable legs or fixed ones positioned on the platform.

While selecting these equipment and gadgets, keep the cost issue in mind as well. There is no need to bite the bullet on plenty of materials and features when your require is extremum.

Get In shape For Fly Fishing and Life!

Entering the ages of 40 to 50 can be a rough time for us women. Our metabolisms began to slow down way back in our 30's, but not our appetites for food and life.

We get trapped in our jobs and lifestyles, and exercise usually takes a back seat to new challenges and responsibilities. I struggled with obtaining the motivation to exercise and get in shape myself until a fishing friend told me about a product called Isagenix that she was taking...I was skeptical, but decided to try it never the less because she believed in the products and she looked great.

My life now involves many Isagenix nutritional supplements and cleanses products called Isagenix Cleanse For Life and walks or other light exercises. I am now in shape for fly fishing and I am in shape for life!
As male or female fly anglers, we like to tromp through the woods to get to a fish filled lake and we hike along the primitive shores of a bubbling creek to find the right spot on that perfect fly hatch, or we wade out in thigh-high, cool stream waters with our fly rods and other various gear necessary for the day. But, if we aren’t in shape, our muscles will feel it big time the next day. Even worse, we could loose our balance, slip and fall and hurt ourselves while out in the woods from physical exursion.
Getting in shape—
· increases your stamina and strength to enjoy a longer day of fly fishing

· improves your balance while wading out in a stream
· adapts your body to exertion in the heat by improving temperature regulation,
· decreases soreness and stiffness after an outing of rod casting

· help prevent injuries from the outdoor activities during warm and cold weather

Isagenix offers many nutritional products, but the one product that changed my life was the Isagenix 9 day cleanse and fat burning system. The Isagenix 9 day cleanse allowed me to safely lose some nagging unwanted weight coupled with some light exercises.

Over time, impurities from the environment, your food and water build up and cause your body to function less efficiently. Cleanse for Life helps rid your body of unwanted impurities with gentle cleansing herbs while infusing it with vital nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. So, your body can function more effectively. Cleanse for Life helps you to have more energy, think more clearly and safely lose weight.

I encourage all of you fly anglers to challenge yourself to better health and get in shape for fly fishing for yourselves and your families!

Fly Fishing Pointers For Beginners And Seasoned Veterans

By Tony Castle

Practice makes perfect in the sport of fly fishing. The fact of the fisherman being classified as a beginner or seasoned veteran does not mean there is no room to learn. The sport is constantly renewing and advancing the techniques and gear of past times, and the sport is gaining new enthusiasts in the process.

The type of rod used relies on the fisherman. In this sport the rod is considered an extension of the arm, as the line is cast not the rod. Rod materials range from graphite to bamboo, and are based around the weight of line being used.

There is a large variety of lines on the market. The lines vary in weight and are chosen based on factors like the type of fly being used and what type of casts are expected. Types of lines include Weight Forward Floating, Level, Weight Forward Sinking, and Floating.

The reel connects the line to the rod. They also wind the line and serve as backing. The backing can assist in faster retrieval and support when a fish pulls the line. Reels are made of a range of materials from Titanium to Aluminum. There are also special reels made for saltwater, as an average reel can incur damage from the salt crystals.

Veterans have made the assembly of the rod easier. A well-known technique is rubbing paraffin wax from a small white candle onto the male parts of the rod. The wax prevents the pieces attached together from coming loose or getting stuck together. Once the wax has been applied, the reel can be attached.

The enthusiast should also gather other gear. Important items are flies, leaders, tippets (optional), and waders for the wading fisherman. They can also find great use in a fishing vest, a fly box, and climate based items like sunscreen and bug repellent.

Once the gear has been collected the individual can begin practicing. The fisherman's cast is the most important element in a successful experience. The basic cast requires the individual to make a "C" loop with the line. The line will make a "whoosh" sound, though the rod should come to a stop before the line will go.

Modern advancements have increased the sports success. Whether a beginner or seasoned veteran, any fisherman can enhance their experience. By practicing casting techniques and attaining sufficient gear fisherman can enjoy fly fishing.

Use A Fishing Pole Holder To For All Your Pole Assistance Needs

By Miles Billings

There is just something about the relationship of man and the fish of the sea, the rivers and streams, or the land-locked lakes and reservoirs. Fish have always been a mainstay of our diet as they deliver essential nutrients and vitamins, healthy oils and good protein. Besides the benefits that they contribute to our health, some people even love to catch them, whether for sport or for profit. Ultimately they need to use their tool of choice, the fishing pole. For those that respect the process of fishing, respect their poles, and sometimes they need a fishing pole holder.

To the non-fisherman, you might wonder "what the heck is a fishing rod holder?" Is that like a fisherman apprentice who doesn't really get to fish, just hold the pole? Well, no, not exactly.

Believe it or not, there are many varieties of the pole holders. There are three different categories that include active, mobile storage, or home storable holders.

The active holder serves to hold the pole while you are actually fishing. These are basically designed as a spike that can be inserted into the ground approximate 12-18 inches. At the top is an angled slot that are angled approximately 45 -60 degrees from the water level, although this can be varied by how it was positioned into the ground. After you cast your line, and have tightened up the slack in the line, you just place the pole in the holder and wait for the fish to bite.

Variations of this type are the ones that are fixed in a stationary position. You might find these attached to a fishing pier, or on the sides of a fishing boat. You can also get one for a wheelchair-bound fisherman that specially attaches to the wheelchair.

Mobile storage pole holders are used to transport the poles from one place to another, so that the poles do not become damaged or tangled. There are adjustable units that you can get that can go into the back of a pick up truck or in a boat.

Home storable holders are stationary units that are permanently installed in your residence or cabin. These can be commercially bought and installed, but hardcore fisherman may have them custom built to reflect their fishing enthusiasm.

As you have learned, a fishing pole holder is not just some invisible being that takes the pole, the holder actually takes a very important role, depending upon the particular situation. Perhaps your future fishing experience may one day dictate your need of a fishing pole holder.

A Guide To Basic Fly Fishing Equipment

(photo from Javier Etcheverry Photography - awesome photos -  visit this site!)

By Bruce Wiley

Having the right equipment for fly fishing is very important, just as it is with other, more popular sports. Brace yourself because you may have to spend a lot for the different types of equipment for fly fishing, but all of it should be worth the extra expense!

Of course, you'll need a rod and reel. The tricky part would be choosing a rod that matches the type of fish you wish to catch. When purchasing fly rods, take note of their net weight capabilities (nwt). The nwt number will tell you what type of fish you will be able to catch. For example, you would need an 8 nwt rod to catch fish that weigh around 8 pounds. The larger the nwt number, the larger fish you can catch.

Some rods are multi-rated (e.g. 7-9 nwt). When compared to single rated rods, these multi-rated rods can catch more types and weight classes of fish, but wouldn't be as flexible.

Generally speaking, rods can be made of fiberglass, graphite or bamboo. Fiberglass rods are durable and less expensive. Since they are versatile enough to be used in different settings, fiberglass rods are ideal for the novice fly fisherman. The advantage of graphite rods are the fact they are lightweight, and can help you angle heavier fish much easier. Bamboo rods can be expensive, but they are extremely strong and are suited to a more laid-back casting style.

Your fly line will need to match the nwt of your rod. If you have an 8 nwt rod, you'll need to use an 8 nwt line. But if you are not able to find the exact same net weight, going one or two sizes under or above is fine - say, 9 nwt or 7 nwt for the above example. Make quality a priority when choosing a fly line. Some lines are specially designed for freshwater, saltwater, etc.

Aside from the line and the rod, you'll need a net that is durable enough for your needs. You will need to scoop fish out of the water once they're down for the count, and a net would work just fine. A good net is essential in catching fish, because once they have been caught hook, line and sinker, the next thing you will want to do is make sure they are pulled out of the water.

Having the right fly fishing equipment is important for both the beginner as well as the experienced angler. Once you find yourself improving in this wonderful sport, you will realize the importance of having the right equipment. You can always upgrade, so it's good to start out small and work your way up to the more expensive stuff. After all, your fly fishing equipment is often the determining factor when it comes to catching unusual and large fish as compared to common ones!

Kayaks And Paddles Design Types - For Dummies

By Carl R Hartley

Kayaks and paddles are a favorite outdoor recreational item, popular among all family members. They come in lots of different styles and designs. The range of choice mind spinning. Sit-on-tops are a large selling design suitable for both entry level novices as well as seasoned kayakers.

Most brands have several sit on top models. Basic models are well equipped with paddle, several storage spaces, either netted or covered. Premier models have the ability to be paddled, pedaled or sailed. They also have integrated rudder systems operated by an inboard foot pedal. The pedal models have a removable inboard drive system that is powered by the foot pedals.

Dimensions of kayaks vary significantly by model. Broadly speaking, solo paddler units have lengths of 3.0-4.5 meters, widths of 0.75-0.85 meters and weights of 18-35 kilograms. They can carry weights ranging from 150-250 kilograms.

Kayaks are available to cater specifically for several outdoor sports including fishing, snorkelling, scuba diving. These units have plenty of fishing rod holder slots and extra storage spaces to allow equipment haulage. Models as re designed for single day trips or multi day extended outdoor camping trips fully capable of hauling all the necessary equipment.

Sit-on-tops are available for solo or tandem paddlers. They are very popular for both surfing and short exploration trips up estuaries, along canals and rivers and other closed water areas. Their strengths include good stability and ease of use.

Top of the range touring kayaks have finely crafted hulls to allow accurate steering and course tracking. A flared bow allows the vessel to cut through messy chop. These models have with extra storage zones, both sealed and netted, including large (up to 24 centimeter) hatched storage wells. Some even have stern storage recesses that serve as a cool box plus large recesses to store scuba diving gear.

One useful accessory worth highlighting is a dodger. It is particularly suitable for premier pedal, touring kayaks. It provides lower body protection against sun, wind and spray. It attaches to the kayak and lifts and folds like a tent. Bungee cord ties the dodger to the kayak on fittings installed on the rails. The dodger fits just forward to just aft of the kayaker. A Velcro fastener closes the dodger. The dodger folds to provide kayak entry-exit. The dodger installs in minutes and packs into a small stow bag sized about 15 centimeters by 70 centimeters and weighing under 1 kilogram (about 2 pounds).

In summary, sit-on-tops are popular among both novice and experienced adventurers looking to invest in kayaks and paddles. As well as the above features, other items to look for include slots for fishing line holders, extra large storage hatches; foam padded seats; netted pockets for easy storage on the bow, stern and midships; wheels built-in to the hull at the stern for easy transportation over land; foam padded seat and backrest; side paddle parks and a screw-topped drain hole.

Note from She's So Fly - I suggest you rent a kayak and try one before purchasing - www.WisnerCanoes.com has stable kayaks, both top and bottom sitting kayaks and fishing kayaks to rent.

5 Beneficial Reasons To Obtain A Fishing Chair

By Frank Muller

Most people that are new to fishing will look at buying equipment from the viewpoint of which reel and rod to get. Whilst I can understand this type of mentality and agree with it i do think that a fishing chair should be included. Time and time again I have seen this however, believe me, the added joy that you get from the fishing experience with one is untrue. The cost of buying one is heavily outweighed by the benefit one gets. It is a 'no brainer' as they say.

What benefits do you get from a fishing chair?

Well, first and foremost, they are not hugely expensive. This is not something that is going to break the bank. Now relax and breath. But before you do think about how much ones of these chairs costs think not just from a cost perspective. Think more about value for money. Cost versus benefit. This is the basis on how you truly measure something of value.

Secondly they are made from light, strong material. They have a strapping system, just like a backpack has, that means you can carry them on your back easily. You will have both hands free to carry other fishing tackle. Very useful if you have parked your vehicle miles away from your fishing peg. Also useful if the terrain is unstable which is common along riverbanks.

Thirdly the material can be cleaned easily with soap and water and it is weatherproof, as you imagine it should be. Not much of a benefit I hear you say, however have a quick think about it. For those of you who have, at some point, had smelly fish in your house you will know how long it takes to get rid of the aroma. The padding the lumbar area of the chair is also music to ones ears.

Fourthly there is a cup holder and tray that swing out of each chair arm. You can eat, drink and be merry and still keep your beady eyes on your float. Getting a bit doesn't mean that you will be slow to react. Handy if you are in a match and you have to stay rooted to your peg for most of the day.

Finally you have a rod holder that is part and parcel of the configuration. The rod holder works well with the tray and cup holder mentioned previously. All of this means that you SHOULD never miss the opportunity to land a fish!

So there are the 5 top reasons as to why one should place importance on a fishing chair as being part of your fishing tackle. I am not going to insult your intelligence, there are alternatives available. There are plenty available from camping shops and are generally cheaper but you are compromising and do you want to do that? The fishing chair is a product that has been designed exclusively for fishing and designed by people who have experienced fishing. Buying anything that is different is just a case of false economy.

Hendrickson Hatch and Dry Fly Fishing has started on the Au Sable River for Trout

(obsessing over brown trout...)

by She's So Fly

Michigan's Ausable River is a large river with awesome character and impressive hatches. This river is one of the finest trout fisheries in the nation. It also becomes a tremendous steelhead fishery throughout its last few miles below Foote Dam. The Au Sable's productive water is made up of the North, South, and main branches. It is a large and in some areas powerful river. Prolific hatches, quality trout, and heavy runs of steelhead make this river a famous place.

I am going fishing with River Scout Guide Service  on the Au Sable river today in search for trout with the flies that Al Ritt custom tied for me specifically for this scheduled trip. I was so excited last night that I could hardly sleep...I explained to a friend that a day of dry fly fishing for trout is like other women getting excited about spending a day at the spa!

(Hendrickson flies tied by Al Ritt)

Today is a She's So Fly "Spa Day"...so wish me luck!

(fly hatch chart for the Au Sable River)

TROUT FISHING:

EARLY SEASON: (starts at ice out)

The early season can change from day to day...chilly and overcast to sunny and warm. The fish begin to feed heavily when the water temp reaches 55F. Hendricksons fire up the big fish and super trout hunt crayfish and forage fish with serious intent. We suggest a 4 or 5 wt rod for dry fly work and a 6 or 7 with sinking line for streamers. Early season hatches include Hendricksons, Mahoganies, March Browns, Sulphurs, Caddis, and Stone Flies.

MIDDLE SEASON:

The middle season begins on June 1. Sulphurs are still hatching, but brown drakes, Isonychia, and Hexagenia Limbata ("hex") take center stage. Streamer fishing is best at dawn or dusk. The large dorsata stonefly (size 4) hatches at this time and deer hair mice start producing heavy fish at night or on cloudy days. Caddis, assorted stone flies, and Light Cahills are on the water. Local ponds and lakes offer some great bass and bluegill fishing during the summer.

LATE SEASON:

The late season begins with the White Fly (Ephoron leukon and album) around August 14. Streamer fishing picks up again in mid September with aggressive browns in full spawning colors whacking large sculpin and crayfish patterns.

Spotlight Information on Al Ritt:
Al is a long time fly tyer and fisher with fly patterns available through Montana Fly Company. Al's flies have been included in several popular books and he has also had several of his own articles published in major periodicals. Al and Diana are both demonstration tyers in the Rocky Mountain area, annually appearing in venues such as the Fly Fishing Show, ISE, Western Colorado Fly Fishing Exposition, East Idaho Fly Tying Expo and at many fly shops, TU, FFF, and other events.

IN SHAPE FOR FISHING, IN SHAPE FOR LIFE!

By Brent VandersteltDo you get winded walking up or down a flight of stairs, or just walking to the mail box? Maybe you get winded or struggle to bend over and pick up a child. Maybe you get winded walking to your favorite fishing spot.

As an angler, you tromp through the woods to get to the mountain lakes and then along the primitive shores to find the right spot. Or wade out in thigh-high, cool stream water with your fly rod.

But, if you aren’t in shape, you’ll feel it big time tomorrow. Or worse, you could slip, fall, or over-exert and get in some real trouble. Getting in shape—

· increases your stamina and strength,

· improves your balance,

· adapts your body to exertion in the heat by improving temperature regulation,

· decreases soreness and stiffness after an outing, and

· help prevent injuries from the outdoor activities

While there is not any known statistics of anglers that die or get hurt pursuing their passion of fishing, we have all read the stories in local papers. What are the causes? Usually heart attacks or heart disease are the biggest killers. Every 20 seconds someone dies of heart disease alone.

What can you do to protect yourself from heart disease? For starters, get active and watch your diet. Start eating the right types of nutrient dense foods to provide enough energy for your intense workouts! Nutrition is the key to building lean muscle mass and burning excess body fat.

Start doing the best cardio exercises to burn off those extra calories and achieve a truly lean physique! Cardiovascular work is very important to include in your overall fitness plan to burn off excess calories and help make your heart and lungs stronger.

Many people ask me how I manage to stay so fit and trim for a middle aged male, especially as my position of National Recruiter for a major transportation company; in which, my weekly routine consists of a 45 minute drive to and from work and another 10 hours behind my desk. Not a real active position and by the time I get home at night, I’m not real motivated to do much.

I struggled to come home and mow the grass or perform other daily household chores let alone get motivated to travel to my favorite fishing hole without my heart wanting to burst out of my chest. That was until a fishing buddy told me about a product called Isagenix.

Isagenix offers many nutritional products, but the one product that changed my life was the Isagenix 9 day cleanse and fat burning system. The Isagenix 9 day cleanse allowed me to safely lose some nagging unwanted weight coupled with some light exercises.

My life now involves many Isagenix nutritional supplements and cleanses products called Isagenix Cleanse For Life and walks or other light exercises. I am now in shape for fishing and with Isagenix I am in shape for life!

Both men and women can benefit from the same weight loss properties and healthy Isagenix lifestyle. Join my IN SHAPE FOR FISHING page on Facebook!

Fashion Show For The Outdoors Woman - Featuring A Camouflage Wedding Dress

(Winter white camouflage wedding dress - courtesy of Miller Bridal)

(Troufest fashion show participants)

Dawn from Elizabeth Halsey Boutique, located in Newaygo Mi, did an amazing job organizing and heading a fashion show during the Newaygo Troutfest to benefit the NCCS Camp Newaygo for girls.  Many area businesses participated and showcased their outdoor based fashions for everyone to see.  I had so much fun modeling a winter white camouflage wedding dress from Miller Bridal.  I had no idea how beautiful camouflage could look printed on satin and sewn into a formal gown.  Camo seems to be the latest craze for many outdoors women.  Weddings don't have to be traditional anymore...more and more women are personalizing their special day and making a statement of who they are...and this is a good thing!   I am truely amazed at how many outdoors women I meet through She's So Fly appearances.  There are so many women who would love to meet other women who participate and enjoy outdoor sports and it is more easy than they think if they just get out and support their local events and mingle - such as Mrs. Michigan 2011, who participated in the fashion show as well - she is an avid hunter and fisher gal too!
